Oliver Charles practiced as a solicitor for over 30 years, running his own practice for almost 28 years. He has a wide experience of legal areas including property, both residential and commercial, through estate planning, company commercial matters, charity governance, and wills, probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney. In addition, he undertook accounting qualifications, and spent some 28 years lecturing in the UK and EU on most areas of law, accounting, forensic accounting, business management together with art history and art fraud.

He has advised upon and assisted in a number of high value asset transactions including the purchasing of classic Ferrari’s, litigation concern classic racing cars, recovery of stolen and fraudulent art assets, and various art collections. In addition, he is published or delivered papers on Deferred Prosecution Agreements, anti-money laundering regulation in the art market, and cultural property protection during conflict. Having gained his MA in the History of Art and a further M.Phil with the Financial Crimes Unit at Coventry University, he holds a number of certificates in art market matters and has published on the reappraisal of the catalogues of artists’ work.

With the changes that are facing the legal professional world Oliver decided the time was apposite for considering a new way to provide advice and assistance to clients, and to bring together the vast knowledge that both he and his associates have, rather than practice within the previous narrow constraints of an old-fashioned firm.

We are NOT a solicitors practice, nor are we independent financial advisors. We are a hybrid consultancy bringing together varying complimentary fields of knowledge, to enable the client to access this knowledge with one consultant advisor, and thus meet their specific needs.

The consultancy also draws upon the expertise of Lucy Charles, who is an experienced independent Curator, Art Dealer and Art Market Professional working within London and Central Europe. Lucy gained her Masters in Modern & Contemporary Art with Christie’s and the University of Glasgow. She then went on to gain her second Masters in Professional Art Market Practice including economics and law. Lucy is an accomplished and experienced Art Historian, and has procured many artworks for private collections and institutions as an intermediary art advisor. Lucy is works within the art markets as an expert witness and as a professional mediator.

Oliver and Lucy are Liverymen of the Worshipful Company of Art Scholars and the Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers of London, together with being patrons and supporters of numerous private and public art foundations across Europe.
